Job Description
The Health Specialist (MNCH/HIV) reports to the Chief of Health (Level 4) for guidance and general supervision. The Specialist provides leadership, technical expertise, and management support for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of integrated maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) and HIV/AIDS programmes within the country programme. The incumbent drives innovation, promotes systems strengthening, and ensures that interventions are rights-based, equity-focused, gender-responsive and resilient to shocks, in line with Results-Based Management (RBM) principles, UNICEF’s Strategic Plan, and global best practices. The Specialist is responsible for managing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting programme progress, and provides technical guidance and operational support throughout the programming process to facilitate the delivery of concrete and sustainable results according to approved plans, allocated resources, performance standards and the accountability framework

Requirements
Education
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or another relevant technical field.
Work Experience
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health and/or HIV/AIDS care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness. Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in French and working knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of a local language is an asset.
